Some Android devices, for example Samsung phones, have this setting hidden in the Phone application. Here’s how to find it:
- Open Mobile app, tap the triple-dot icon in the upper right and tap Settings.
- You will see an opportunity Wi-Fi calls. Press and activate.
- When it’s available, you’ll see Wi-Fi calls Next to the name of your operator in the shadow of your phone notifications.
Can’t find options on your Android phone? You need a SIM card in your device to display the option (when you insert one, you may need to restart your phone). If you already have a SIM, open it Settings and write “Wi-Fi calls”In the top search bar.

Wi-Fi calls are usually included in your voice call plan and are considered regular calls. If you have limited minutes, Wi-Fi calls will be counted as part of your allowance. They shouldn’t come at an additional cost, but we encourage you to check back because carriers don’t always treat them the same. If your provider charges Wi-Fi calls, that’s fine time to find a better carrier.
One thing to keep in mind is that long-distance or international costs that affect voice calls will also apply to Wi-Fi calls. And Wi-Fi calls are not supported in all countries. Alternatively, try using the call (voice or video) feature in Internet Protocol messaging applications such as WhatsApp, Google Duo, Telegram, Signal, WeChat, and FaceTime. You will not be charged.
Carriers tell you exactly when your phone should switch to Wi-Fi calls, but that’s not very consistent. If you see that your signal is strong enough to prevent you from initiating Wi-Fi calls, but not enough to make clean calls, you can force it to turn on Airplane mode and then turn on Wi-Fi again. Remember to turn off Airplane mode again after the call.
