ANKARA (Reuters) – Turkey will drop prices as soon as possible, President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday after rising annual inflation by more than 36% in December as a result of the currency crisis caused by its unorthodox low-rate policy.
Speaking in parliament to members of his ruling AK Party, Erdogan said inflation figures were not in line with Turkey’s economic reality and hoped to see the benefits of Ankara’s economic policy in the summer.
