IND VS SA 3. ODI: South Africa has won four races for India to take the series

Quinton de Kock had a great century when South Africa completed their three-match single-day international series against India with a four-race victory in the Newlands on Sunday.

India opted for the field goal and limited South Africa to 287 from 50 overs to a single ball, but the visitors almost failed to catch up with them as they managed to get 283 with four balls left at the entrance.

Deepak Chahar was fined 54 of 33 balls to bring India closer, but lost the last three wickets to add five runs to put the home team in bottom order.

De Kock’s 17th ODI century increased South Africa’s total, coming from his 124,130 balls, and added 134 to a fourth wicket with Rassie van der Dussen making a strong 52 from 59 balls.

David Miller scored 39 at the end of the innings, but South Africa may have felt that he was missing 30 runs with 364 of the three in the 36th. Prasidh Krishna was the scorer for 3-59.

IT HAPPENED

India were on their way to the 116th when they were over by one over 23, but two quick wickets had a huge setback.

Shikhar Dhawan (61) fired a shot at goal from goalkeeper De Kock Andile Phehlukwayo (2-38), and from his first ball, the dangerous Rishabh Pant tried to shoot the same ball for six, but caught it deep in the cover.

Pant’s shot was poorly selected, not the first time on tour.

When former captain Virat Kohli (65) left, only 54 survivors of the Chahar managed to reach India.

Tailors Lungi Ngidi (3-58) and Phehlukwayo (3-40) were again impressed by the hosts.

South Africa won the three-match test series 2-1.
