Why ION Mobility entered the electric motorcycle space

“With more than 200 million motorcycles across the SEA – 112 million in Indonesia, 50 million in Vietnam, 22 million in Thailand and 14 million in Malaysia – our region is home to the world’s third largest motorcycle population. It is truly a land of ubiquitous motorcycles.”
Unfortunately, motorcycle pollution is a big problem. According to a 2006 study, they emit 16 times more hydrocarbons, three times more carbon monoxide and a “disproportionate” amount of other air pollutants than passenger cars.
More recent research has shown a reduction of between 40 and 60 per cent in reducing emissions as compliance with regulations increases.

He added that ION Mobility is now pushing the boundaries of the region’s automotive industry as a “hard technology” and “full stack” company.

Meet ION Mobius
The ION Mobius is built with the latest technology in engine, battery and vehicle control systems.
The electric motor reaches a peak power of 12.5 kW and a maximum torque of 50 Nm. It also has a top speed of 110 km / h and accelerates from 0 to 50 km / h in less than four seconds.
“With the purr of an electric motor and zero emissions, you can get a sudden toka,” said Wu Xianyi, ION Mobility’s chief product and design manager.
“The key idea for us in designing Mobius was to convey a sense of elegance and a sense of solidity, while maintaining lightness and excitement, perfect for city commuting.”
In addition, one of the goals of the Mobius design team is to help users overcome the anxiety of the terrifying range.
ION Mobius has three different ride modes, allowing users to charge from 120km to 200km on a single charge, depending on the style of ride.
In addition to the electric motor and battery, the bike also has a vehicle computer paired with a very bright seven-inch TFT screen and high fidelity and brightness.
“This vehicle control unit is the‘ brain ’of the motorcycle. It allows the bike to connect directly to the Internet via LTE, as well as pair with your phone via Bluetooth, ”explained Xianyi.
“We’ve designed the user interface to be futuristic, intuitive and clean, making it easy for users to access the right information at a glance.”
Mobius will connect to your phone via Bluetooth using the ION app. The app allows users to customize various settings of Mobius, as well as the user interface and sound themes.
Users will be able to review and improve their ride data and ride style based on ride statistics. In addition, the app can help you find your bike when you search using GPS.

The company is beginning to approve ION Mobius in Indonesia, and pre-applications will be open soon. Assembly is expected to begin assembly operations in the Greater Jakarta region in the first half of 2022, and the bike will only hit Indonesian roads next year.
After Indonesia, the company plans to expand in the region, especially in Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. As ION Mobility expands its scale and operations to meet the growing demand, ION Mobility will expand its team.
ION Mobility currently has more than 40 employees in three different countries, more than half of whom make up Singapore operations.
