Google IO 2021: How to see, what to expect

[ad_1]

Cold weather The smell of cut green grass on a May morning, the sound of baseball on the radio. You know what that means: it’s developer conference season. Next up, Google ME.

Due to the pandemic, after the cancellation of the 2020 repeat of the annual promoters, Google IO will return by 2021. The conference will run from May 18 to May 20, and as expected, this year’s event will be completely virtual and free. So the big Google IO keys, technical sessions, and interactive demos will be done on a web browser tab and not on the amphitheater stage. It’s a bit of a shame that developers can’t be able to interact with each other as easily as in a pre-event, but they’ll all at least save a lot of money on travel and ticket costs. Also, the lines to the toilets will be much shorter, and the beers after the show will be much cheaper.

Google IO will start on Tuesday with an initial key address. We should expect the two-hour presentation to be stacked positively with the ads. Based on previous Google IO keys, we can expect new improvements in all of Google’s key software products, such as Android, web search, Maps, Assistant, Wear OS, and G Suite. Google is also sure to debut software tricks that take advantage of its latest advances machine intelligence, computer vision, and augmented reality. There is no better forum than IO (an event closely watched by consumers, developers and competitors) to showcase innovations in these areas.

IO is still more of a software show than a hardware show, but you might also see some physical products on Tuesday. Maybe a laptop, maybe the rumor of lower-cost Pixel Buds, maybe a new addition to the smart-home Nest line speakers and on screens. Be aware that Google is holding an extraordinary hardware event in the fall to launch phones, speakers and other gadgets.

How to See

When will the Google presentation start 13:00 East, 10:00 Pacific on Tuesday, May 18th. You can play it here in the player on this page. You can also see the stream Google’s YouTube channel. The feed must be started directly 20 minutes before the start of the event.
