England have spoken to officials about speeding up their game after scoring five points in the World Cup (WTC) and a full share of the match for failing to pass the required passes against Australia in the first Ash Test.
Joe Root’s side were ruled out of a five-game losing streak in Gaba’s nine-game defeat after considering time bonuses, with match judge David Boon, a former Australian test shooter, imposing a penalty.

Players receive a fine of 20% of the match fee for each time they do not vote in the allotted time, and the team is penalized one point in a short time.
“What hurts the most are the points in the test tournament,” England coach Chris Silverwood told the British media.
“This puts the guys in the pocket, but what really gets us the points is because we’re competing to get into that final.
“We’ve gone through that with areas where we can improve with the match referee.
“It was our first test for a while. We didn’t do that warm-up game, so the boys weren’t used to moving all the time and it was hot.”
Australia lost their first WTC final in July after conceding points due to a slow rate in the second round against Melbourne India.

However, with James Anderson and Stuart Broad available for the second test, after a break from the opening game, the selectors could go with a full-blown Adelaide attack and throw Leach, who ran 102 of his 13 overs.
This would put more pressure on England as they try to tie the series in the five-test series against the Ashes holders.
