It will ensure compliance with Maharashtra government protocols: Mumbai Cricket Association

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), which is hosting a second test between India and New Zealand at the iconic Wankhede Stadium from December 3, said on Monday that it would ensure strict implementation of the COVID-19 protocols of the Maharashtra government during the match.

“The association will ensure that all protocols of the state government are strictly complied with. According to state government guidelines, we would limit audience access to a maximum of 25% of the stadium’s capacity, ”MCA Secretary Sanjay Naik told a media outlet.

Test cricket returns to Mumbai The last game played after five years was against England in December 2016.

“The association will organize a test match after a 5-year gap. In these times of pandemic we hope to give cricket test fans the opportunity to enjoy cricket at its best, ”the MCA said.

COVID-19 is the first international match the city will host after the pandemic. The last international match organized by the stadium was in January 2020, an ODI with India and Australia.

Wankhede Stadium has a capacity for 33,000 people when it is full.

The first test of the two-game series ended in a draw on Monday after a formidable match on the fifth day of the Campers.
