KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) – Malaysian oil company Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) has signed an agreement with a Royal Dutch Shell (LON 🙂 subsidiary to cooperate on carbon capture and storage (CCS) in the Southeast Asian country and region. .
Under the Joint Review and Cooperation Agreement, Petronas and Sarawa Shell Berhad will conduct an integrated CCS Area Development Plan review at various locations offshore in Sarawa, Petronas said in a statement.
“This is one of the many efforts to position and implement CCS as the main solution site in the Malaysia region,” said Adif Zulkiflik, Petronas ’Executive Vice President and CEO of Upstream.
Petronas said it was looking into offering decarbonisation services to Shell’s local and cross-border facilities, as well as to other potential customers in the region, as part of the agreement.
