Malaysian brand of comfortable clothes for children and families – Wired PR Lifestyle Story

When I was growing up as an only child, my parents didn’t have the benefit of giving me hands to adapt to my growing up phases.

Instead, they had to buy new clothes of different sizes each time. Luckily, I was never a strict child (read: I didn’t have a sense of fashion), so I wore what I got, even though I liked to dress up as my mother.

The mother of two children, when Jueenn was raising children, was a problem that often came to mind in clothes. She personally liked her children’s clothes to match what was in her wardrobe, filled with neutral colors and comfortable outfits.

For her first child, it seemed easy to find similar styles to t-shirts, jeans, or shorts. But with her second child, a daughter, she felt it was almost impossible to match her clothes with her son or hers.

Determined to do something about it, Jueenn set up his clothing line, Teezlab.

Taking a different path

After graduating from fashion, Jueenn took a different path from his classmates. While most of his friends teamed up with local designers, he decided to challenge himself in Balakong by joining a manufacturing company in Cheras.

There, he was able to improve his knowledge of materials and fabrics, cutting, sewing, packaging and, above all, cost management.

2 years later, she worked with several local and global brands, including Pony, Giordano Ladies, Padini, Ms. Read, with 7DAYS and e-commerce branding. White ox.

In total, he gathered around 2 decades of industry knowledge, especially in children’s clothing, when he founded Teezlab.

Needless to say, this experience cultivated a number of values ​​that sought to embody its own brand.

Jueenn prioritizes neutral colors and unisex styles so that anyone can easily shake their designs, and uses high-quality materials and manufacturing processes to increase the durability of clothing.

The long shelf life of the clothing (the fabric is properly cared for) means that Teezlab’s clothing can be easily shared or transmitted with siblings or relatives. Since the designs are unisex friendly, there’s little problem: “Oh, she can’t wear that, she’s too masculine / girl!”.

In addition, being able to deliver good quality clothing means that less fabric waste ends up in our landfills. Only in Malaysia, it is estimated that we produce 2,000 tons of textile waste every day.

At the end of Teezlab, the brand is implementing reusable packaging instead of PVC bags and reusing surplus fabrics to create mini-bags. To encourage customers to take more care of their clothes and extend their lifespan, the brand gives away free laundry nets for every purchase.

A cycle of value

But Jueenn’s dedication to creating value through Teezlab doesn’t stop at his clients alone; it also wants to help our local fashion and clothing industry.

Over the past 5 years, it has seen many local factories close because brands are opting to outsource manufacturing to countries like India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh because of cheap labor.

It is not that we do not have high quality materials and production skills in Malaysia, such as printing, sewing or embroidery, but the lack of demand has closed local businesses. Jueenn did not want to help the problem any further.

“I asked myself, if most local brands support local factories, we will be able to create a good cycle. [whereby] everyone will have a job opportunity to survive and feed the market, ”he said.

Thus, it decided to manufacture 80% of Teezlab’s products here in Malaysia, and another 20% by outsourcing them to foreign factories.

Taking a look at Teezlab’s website, you’ll see that it still doesn’t have a lot of style, but it’s clear that the focus is definitely on children’s clothing.

In addition to everyday clothes, the brand also produces comfortable sleeping clothes and children’s living room clothes. All of its products are made of soft cotton stitches and are unlabeled to reduce skin irritation.

As Teezlab Jueenn was born out of a desire to match his daughter, the brand also wears adult-sized clothing in similar styles. This makes the brand a convenient choice for families who like to wear clothes that match the outing or events.

Based on my shopping experiences, I find that the prices of Teezlab products are quite average, with t-shirts between RM9.90 and RM49.90, depending on the design and cut.

Born and raised in a pandemic

Creating and running a company during the pandemic was certainly a tough ride for Jueenn and his 6 team.

The challenges they advanced, including the fact that the manufacturer closed for more than 3 months during MCO3.0, led to the launch of zero new products.

“The market momentum was not stable, which was a big disadvantage for us as a new brand, especially in the fashion industry,” Jueenn added.

However, the team worked on photo shoots and video recordings personally taking on a variety of roles, and they were very careful with FB ads with marketing costs as well as logistics costs.

“One of the reasons we decided to take 20% of our upcoming products abroad is because the unfortunate circumstance does not happen again,” Jueenn said, referring to the closure of the aforementioned factory.

However, in support of Teezlab’s vision and mission to maintain local support, it is dedicated to maintaining at least 70-80% of its production in Malaysia.

In the near future, it hopes to release more products for women of different ages and races to increase Teezlab’s market reach and traffic. This is because she believes that women will be the biggest buyers in the fashion industry.

But still, he will not give up on their sustainability, concluding: “We aim to have more sustainable products and more educational events, including the importance of sustainability to protect our environment.”
