Malaysian job portal to display portfolios for graphic designers – Wired PR Lifestyle Story

[ad_1]

In recent years, more job portals and networking sites have been created specifically for the creative industry.

For many, the main reason why these other solutions were launched despite Malaysia’s already established access to job search sites was unsatisfied creative needs.

As an example, a traditional job portal like JobStreet does not offer creatives the ability to showcase their portfolios. When it comes to visual work, being able to show what you can do makes the hiring process much easier for both talent and employers.

In addition, employers have to pay for a job advertisement on traditional portals, even if they don’t have a talent match. It is an unsustainable hiring model for smaller companies, such as SMEs or startups.

Thus, these companies tend to go to sites like Facebook, using community teams to find talent. Although it is a free strategy, it has not yet been effective, as employers and talent will need to put in the time and effort to connect and start discussing employment.

Realizing all these problems and more, the then college student Kelvin Tai and his team of members started doing market research to get more information from the employers. Equipped to better understand the needs of the creative industry, they launched it Artmeet March 1, 2021.

A new opportunity to look for work for creators

In terms of talent, in addition to creating a standard profile of job seekers, Artmeet allows them to publish their portfolios and show the endorsements of previous employers.

Kelvin described to the Vulcan Post that the site is like LinkedIn, and although it has no visual similarities, I can see how it is functionally similar in terms of LinkedIn’s job search features, with some creative add-ons.

But again, as mentioned earlier, there are now more creative catering sites in Malaysia, with a strong competitor Rtist, which we first covered. here.

Compared to Artmeet and Rtist, they seem to offer very similar features, as well as to previous employer endorsements (or reviews, as the latter says). Rtist also does not charge fees for the job listing, but provides employers with a credit system that they can use to upload, display, or mark their orders as urgent.

In contrast, Artmeet provides employers with unlimited publication of job postings and an unlimited ability to unlock talent resumes. But in January 2022, a free account will be limited to 3 job ads per month and will start unlocking talent by invitation only.

The forecast price structure for the future is to charge RM58 / month if you pay an annual subscription, or if you pay RM98 / month per month. This restores the privilege of indefinite job postings, and the ability to unlock 10 talent resumes per month, among other things.

Rapid growth and promising numbers

So far, Kelvin has shared nearly 1.2K designers and more than 900 companies registered with Artmeet. More than 800 job vacancies have also been published on the website, with 59% being internships and 41% full-time jobs.

According to Kelvin, the success rate of talent to find a job in 3 working days is 61%.

“We have introduced new features, candidate management and virtual interviews to increase the success rate of recruitment, enabling companies to actively invite designers through our platform to virtual interviews,” he added.

“Therefore, companies no longer have to wait passively for designers to apply for jobs. We believe that the success rate will increase in the first quarter of 2022. ”

He also shared that the monthly compound growth rate (CMGR) is around 31.29% for designers and 48.44% for companies.

Overall, these numbers indicate that Artmeet handles creative demands appropriately.

Not bad for a site built by college students at a time when they couldn’t fully commit to the project.

Appreciate their efforts

Currently, 4 of the 5 founders have graduated, and Xavier has chosen to pursue a Master’s in CTO.

In total, it took the team 3 months to develop and launch their minimum viable product (MVP), and they used the Facebook team to validate their idea and drive traffic to their site.

As Kelvin said, the biggest challenge in the early stages was the classic chicken and egg problem.

“We make a great effort to get traffic through Facebook manually by commenting on the posts of different groups. It took about 4 months to fix the chicken and egg problem without spending a penny on the marketing budget. ”

And their efforts have been recognized, with Artmeet 1337 Ventures ranking Alpha Startup Digital Accelerator (ASDA) as a Top 10 finalist. Although they weren’t a top 2 startup, they later met their investment angel through ASDA.

The team has also been ranked among the top 22 startups in the Youth Co-Lab Malaysia 2021 competition, which runs until March 2022.

Going beyond the scope of the job search

Based on our interview, it seems that Artmeet has bigger goals beyond connecting job seekers and employers.

“We believe that creative talent doesn’t just need a job site, because getting a job is just the tip of the iceberg throughout their creative journey. We want to create an ecosystem capable of creating more value [creatives]said Kelvin.

He explained: “For example, in January 2022, we will launch a competition platform to organize online competitions for creative talent that allow third parties to participate and gain experience.”

At the same time, they plan to launch a professional LinkedIn network (including social media features) dedicated to creative talent.

This would bring Artmeet’s model even closer to LinkedIn, but it’s not a negative thing, considering how LinkedIn has become a preferred site for professional networking professionals regardless of one’s industry.

“By 2023, we aim to double and expand Artmeet’s successful model in the Singapore and Indonesian markets. Ultimately, we aim to contribute at least 30,000 creative talents to the Southeast Asian region,” Kelvin concluded.
