BERLIN (Reuters) – McLaren Automotive said on Monday that the reports the company had sold to Audi were inaccurate, following an article stating that a purchase agreement had been reached in the Autocar publication earlier that day.
“McLaren Group has a news story that says they have sold Audi. This is completely wrong and McLaren is looking to get rid of the story,” a company spokesman said.
The spokesman did not respond directly to whether they were having discussions with Audi.
“McLaren’s technology strategy has been the subject of ongoing discussions and collaboration with major partners and suppliers, including other automakers, but there has been no change in the ownership structure of the McLaren Group,” they said.
Audik told Reuters that he was “exploring various ideas for the partnership,” but did not confirm or deny whether he was discussing a possible sale with McLaren.
