The International Federation of Journalists says it has been “one of the lowest numbers of deaths in a year.”
A total of 45 journalists were killed worldwide in 2021, according to the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), adding that it was “one of the lowest number of deaths” recorded in the year.

IFJ Secretary-General Anthony Bellanger has reaffirmed his support for the United Nations Convention on the Protection of Journalists by the United Nations Convention on the Protection of Journalists.
