Nobel Peace Prize winner and women’s rights activist Malala Yousafzai is married in her home in the UK.

Yousafzai, who was shot in the head by the Pakistani Taliban when he was just 15 years old, reported the news on Twitter, sharing photos of an Islamic wedding ceremony known as nikkah.

“It’s precious in my life today,” the 24-year-old wrote. “Asser and I tied together to be partners for life.

“We held a small Nikkah ceremony at our Birmingham home with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to go on a journey together. ”

Thousands of people responded with good wishes and congratulations, as the tweet attracted more than 227,000 ‘likes’.

Yousafzai did not provide any other information about her husband. Social media users identified him as Asser Malik, CEO of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s High Performance Center.

Yousafzai spent months in treatment since he was shot in 2012, and wrote his best-selling memoir, “I am Malala,” and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford University.

At the age of 17 she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her work in girls ’education, and Kailash Satyarthi shared the award with an Indian children’s rights activist.

Its non-profit Malala Fund has invested $ 2 million in Afghanistan.

She has also signed an agreement with Apple TV + to produce dramas and documentaries focusing on women and children.

Recently in July this year, the activist told British Vogue magazine that she was not sure if she would ever get married.

“I still don’t understand why people should get married. If you want to be a person in your life, why do you have to sign marriage documents, why can’t it be a company? ” he said in a long profile.
