The violent protests in Kazakhstan led to rising fuel prices.
A Russian-led alliance has sent troops called “peacekeepers” to Kazakhstan after the president called for help to quell the country’s mass protests.
They began on January 1, after the government announced a major rise in fuel prices. Anger and violence came.
In an attempt to calm the unrest, the government resigned.
The president then imposed a two-week state of emergency nationwide and shut down the internet.
But the protests turned into a call for a change of leadership.
