New Zealand has delayed plans to reopen due to concerns over Omicron
New Zealand said on Tuesday it would postpone plans to reopen it until the end of February, fearing a rapid spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
New Zealand has previously announced that non-quarantine travel will reopen by mid-January for Australian citizens and residents, and for foreign tourists by April.
“This is certainly frustrating and will ruin many holiday plans, but it is important to make these changes clear so that they have time to consider those plans,” Chris Hipkins, COVID-19’s response minister, said in a statement.
