In the 1980s, Sugar Ray Leonard’s “Four Kings,” Marvin Hagler, Roberto Duran, and Thomas Hearns tied back boxing and led one of the most exciting eras in the history of the sport. These four mythical talents would be combined nine times in the championship fights of that time, while giving life to the sport he was fighting for at the time.

On June 6, “The Kings,” a four-part documentary series featuring four stars, will premiere on Showtime. On the same night, the Showtime pay-per-view program will feature an exhibition clash between boxing star Floyd Mayweather and social media agent Logan Paul. The remaining three episodes will be released weekly and will be available on all Showtime playback platforms and on demand.

Check out the trailer for “The Kings” below.

The fights between the “Four Kings” were legendary, but the stories of Leonard, Hagler, Duran, and Hearns are more than just throwing punches inside the ring. In the turbulent 1980s men were fighting racism, fighting American society and needing stars in the sport when Muhammad Ali retired.

Sadly, Hagler died earlier this year when he died in March at the age of 66. Duran, Leonard and Hearns are about 60 years old and four men have been inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
