As the 2021 calendar draws to a close, WWE returns to one of its biggest regular events on November 21 when the Survivor Series is held in Brooklyn. The Survivor Series is the second-oldest WWE payee of the year, behind WrestleMania.

Although the event was initially built around tag matches between teams of five men, in recent years it has focused on matches between the main stars of Raw and SmackDown. Traditionally, an untitled fight means a WWE champion against a universal champion, a Raw women’s champion against a SmackDown women’s champion, and so on. It’s likely to be a game or two using the old “Survivor Series tag game” to eliminate large groups of men and women in tag games.

Although there is no story beyond brand and brand, the novelty of cross-brand matches keeps the events at a high level of intrigue.

WWE Champion vs. Big E Universal Champion Roman Reigns: Big Ek won the WWE Championship on October 13, winning his Money in the Bank Raw contract and winning Bobby Lashley. He has since mixed with Reigns several times, once in a six-man tag action with his New Day bandmates against The Bloodline and once in a triple threat in a mix-up with Lashley as well. Reigns has been a universal champion for more than a year, dominating all who come.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair vs. Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch: Flair and Lynch have a long history, both as teammates and opponents. They have shared the ring more than 45 times on TV and PPV and more than 200 times when live events are considered in the equation.

Intercontinental Champion vs. Shinsuke Nakamura United States champion Damian Priest: Nakamura’s reign in the tournament has been a bit forgotten, but Priest Raw’s character is refreshing. In recent weeks, Priest has shown a new aggressive edge, showing new levels of violence and being less of a “fun character” than he was at WrestleMania when he joined the music superstars Bad Bunny.

RK-Bro and SmackDown gross champions The Usos: Usos and Reigns dominated SmackDown, Randy Orton and Riddle, and formed a great group of weird couples on the Raw side. Both teams are in need of new opponents, which is what they will get in the Survivor Series.
