President Biden considers economists to sit in the Fed’s governorship seats as vice president to oversee Sarah Bloom Raskin.

The White House has officially appointed former Fed Governor Sarah Bloom Raskin as the vice president of overseeing the Federal Reserve, as well as economists Lisa Cook and Philip Jefferson to fill two vacant seats on its governing board.

In a Friday announcement, U.S. President Joe Biden he said Cook, an Obama-era economic adviser and a member of the Michigan State University faculty, and Jefferson, a former Fed researcher, were also appointed to the Governing Council by Raskine. Jefferson and Cook will take two of the vacant seats on the group of seven governors, appointing Jerome Powell and Lael Brainard as presidents and vice presidents, respectively.
