SEOUL (Reuters) – South Korea’s finance minister said on Friday that the government would prepare a new 4.3 billion won ($ 3.6 billion) promotion package to help re-establish the stricter limits of COVID-19 to affected small and self-employed businesses.

Of the total package, about 3.2 trillion won would be distributed to give one million won to each of the 3.2 million small businesses that have experienced a drop in sales.

On Thursday, the prime minister said the country would reinstate stricter rules of social exclusion after a month and a half of easing under the “living with COVID-19” policy as the number of new infections and serious cases curls.

The bike lanes will return from Saturday to January 2, restricting gatherings to more than four people – as long as the vaccine is full – and forcing restaurants, cafes and bars to close at 9pm and cinemas and internet cafes to close at 10pm.

The Korean Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) reported 7,435 cases as of Thursday, close to a record 7,850 days earlier this week.

Friday’s stimulus package comes just weeks after parliament approved a record budget of $ 607.7 trillion for 2022 to help accelerate economic recovery and help those affected by the pandemic.
