Shai Hop has replaced Solozano instead of the West Indies consortium

The West Indies on Monday allowed Shai Hope to be used as a replacement for the concussion of debutant batsman Jeremy Solozano, who was taken to hospital while playing in the first test against Sri Lanka.

Solozano was expected to be discharged from the hospital and returned to the group hotel later Monday.

The team said the tests did not reveal any “structural damage”, but Solozano confirmed that he had suffered the blow and that he would follow proper protocols during his recovery.

Wicketkeeper-batter Hop has played 36 test games with 1,675 runs for the West Indies, averaging five fifties and two hundred. He scored the highest score of 147 against England in Headingley in 2017.
