Shakur Stevenson has managed to stop Jamel Herring from winning the WBO junior lightweight title

In the advancement of his young career, Shakur Stevenson was a two-division champion on Saturday in a master class in a performance.

Stevenson (17-0, 9 KOs), a former featherweight champion, was perfect in the first half of the 130-pound fight against Jamel Herring. The 24-year-old southerner made a stop in the 10th round against the WBO champion, and is easily downgraded after Stevenson’s professional career after winning a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics.

He was more muscular in his upper body, with Stevenson relying on his speed to distinguish Herring. When the 35-year-old veteran found a way to get inside, Stevenson played Herring as the greatest muscular and fighter.

Herring (23-3, 11 KOs) would have been more offensive, starting in the 4th round, Stevenson would have been cleaner with power shots.

Stevenson, who would go to Herring with a difference of 164 to 87, according to CompuBox, Herring began to walk at will in the 9th round, splitting his guard with large combinations. A cut on Herring’s eye began to worsen from there, and Judge Mark Nelson interrupted the fight in the 10th round to give the doctor next to the ring a look.

Nelson kept a short strap from there as Stevenson stepped on the gas and rushed through the ropes forcing the referee to stop the action even though Herring was still on his feet. The fight was decided by the TKO at 1:30 in the 10th round.
