Shreyas Iyer will make his Test debut in the first test against New Zealand on Thursday after being sidelined due to a strain on his left thigh muscles in Kampur, KL Rahul, Indian substitute captain Ajinkya Rahane said on Wednesday.
“Shreyas will make his debut. Unfortunately KL is injured, he will not be on the test team for the next two games,” Rahan told reporters. “Obviously it’s a big blow. He played very well in England. He was in good form, he played well in the T20s. We will miss him. But we have guys who can do the job, guys who have done well for us. Past and past.”
