Sinclair is the Canadian team leader for the November games against Mexico

Christine Sinclair and most of the Canadian women’s national team that won the Olympic gold in Tokyo will be together in a couple of matches in Mexico in November, which will close the season.

Sinclair, the all-time leading scorer in international football, is among 18 players from 22 22-member Olympic teams called up for matches against Mexico on November 27 and 30.

“Canada’s trip to Mexico is key to our journey to the 2022 CONCACAF Women’s Championship next summer,” said coach Bev Priestman.

“This tour will allow us to evaluate some future players and start some of our tactical adjustments before the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.”

Priestman also said that the narrow window between the two games played at height will create difficult conditions, but that it is part of the experiences to build the team that will come in 2022 and beyond.

Along with Sinclair, who has set a record 188 goals in 306 international matches, Canada Soccer has said that Sophie Schmidt and Desiree Scott have won three other Olympic medals in November.

The Olympic team players who are not available for the November camp are Janine Beckie and Adriana Leon for medical reasons, as well as Gabrielle Carle and Jayde Riviere through school commitments.

Since the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Canada has won Mexico in four matches.

Canada is undefeated in 12 matches, with victories against Wales and England in April, draws against the Czech Republic and Brazil in June, winning the gold medal in Tokyo and winning two in October against New Zealand.
