Former pacer Rumesh Ratnayake has been named interim coach of the Sri Lankan team ahead of the home tournament against Zimbabwe, the country’s cricket committee said on Tuesday.
“Sri Lanka Cricket wants to appoint Rumesh Ratnayake as interim coach for Sri Lanka’s next tour of Zimbabwe,” the SLC said in a statement.
Ratnayake, a 58-year-old who has played 23 tests and 70 ODIs from 1982 to 1993, is currently working as a fast bowling coach at the High Performance Center.

He will put himself in the shoes of Mickey Arthur, who resigned in November last year.
Ruvin Peiris, who was working as a batting coach at the High Performance Center, has also joined the Zimbabwe senior team.
