England captain Joe Root said his team was “clear on how to approach” the Ashes series at a launch ceremony at Gabban in Brisbane on Sunday.
Root’s team has a little more clarity as in an amazing move against Australia he named the starting eleven two days before the start of the first Gabban Test on Wednesday.
The ash launching ceremony was attended by rival captains Root and Australian freshman Pat Cummins, along with Englishman Mark Wood, Ollie Pope and Australian vice-captain Steve Smith and Cameron Green.
Root added that England will gain confidence by beating Gabban India in Australia earlier this year, “holding on to their strength”.
India wins Gabban It was the first defeat of the host Australia in Brisbane in 35 years.
The England captain said: “Thank you India, they played very well in the whole series. And in many ways, they set a good example for any team that comes here to come and play.”
England last won a 2011 Ashes series with a team that also included a fast-paced Australian bowling pair, James Anderson and Stuart Broad.
