Jake Paul playoffs: Trae Young, Danny Garcia and more react to Tyron Woodley’s bad end

All eyes were on Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley’s rematch Saturday at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. Paul, a 24-year-old internet boxer he gave up a vicious knockout round in the sixth round more than to remain undefeated and to complete the expectation of the audience.

In the final minute of the sixth round, Paul (5-0, 4 KOs) faked a body shot to force Woodley (0-2) to drop his gloves, opening the way for a hard right hand to hit his head. The fist sent Woodley face down on the ground, where he was knocked unconscious for several moments.

After the fight, Paul reflected on Showtime’s remarkable knockout with Ariel Helwani.

“This is as real as it is real, like my right hand,” Paul said. “I told you, Ariel, I was going to go up. I told you I was going to go up, and I was going to go up.”

This result was far more dramatic than the first time they met Paul and Woodley. Paul and former UFC welterweight champion Woodley fought on Aug. 29 in Cleveland, Paul’s hometown, and won the first by splitting the decision.

Paul was scheduled to face Tommy Fury, the younger brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury on Saturday’s ticket, but a rib injury forced him two weeks before the match. Woodley took part, helping to create one of the best moments of the year in boxing.
