Ashley Merrill knows a thing or two living comfortably. As the creator of the modern living room clothes line Lunya, spends the day improving the art of relaxation (hello washable silk clothes and linen ruffles!). When he is off the clock he will go home Malibu she shares the beach house with her husband and children, where she enjoys the pleasant and lively aesthetic of her brand. How did you end up in this beautiful beach house?
We bought a house in Malibu on the beach when the kids were little and because we worked so hard the trips were not in doubt. The house gave us permission “Away from home” and try to turn off our brains a little.

You may not be able to intervene with Merrill’s Agnoli vintage, but this sloping chair was produced by IKEA in the 60s. It’s a great shape, wonderful and unique.

What was the biggest challenge in space design?
The scale of the common room was hard to balance.

Tell us about your amazing view of the ocean!
The view basically sold us all over the house. Nature is the best way to charge In my opinion. I feel grateful for living a few stones away from nature.

What inspired you to create Lunya?
Lunya was inspired by personal experience. I wanted something that would allow me to feel comfortable and confident at home.
How does Luna inspire your home (and vice versa)?
Lunya is less of my mindset. I love minimalism and feel that the modern, fresh atmosphere of the Moon can work in so many styles. I use my home bedroom as an opportunity to showcase design inspiration and show how Lunya integrates into any space.

The bedroom, as long as the view doesn’t hurt.

How do comforts and relaxation play a part in inspiring your design?
This is a completely surrounded house communal spaces. I wanted things to be modular and comfortable, so there are plush textures and oversized pieces. I was looking for a lot of whites, which can be dangerous, but I used all the cleaning cloths to make it easy to live with my family.
What’s your favorite way to spend time at home?
I love hanging out with kids. Actually, my favorite moments are when we’re all together, but we all do our own thing.
What was the inspiration designed to decorate this house?
I was inspired by the ocean. I know this is obvious, but since it was a prominent focus of this house, we were all really focused on it.
Any final thoughts on your home?
I love mixing high and low and sometimes throwing something unexpected. In my house and in our bedrooms, you will always see something small flashing to play with things.
