India suffered heavy blows before the second round against New Zealand as Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant Sharma were left out of the match due to injury.
In a statement on Friday, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah stated that Rahan – who was the team captain in the first test at Kampur – suffered a slight left hamstring strain on the field on the last day of the first test.
“As he has not fully recovered, he has been ruled out of the 2nd Mumbai Test. His progress will be closely monitored by the BCCI medical team,” he said in a statement.
With this, Rahan is waiting to play a home game.
Fast forward Ishant Sharma dislocated his little left finger on the last day of the first Test. The BCCI medical team will continue to monitor its progress.
Full-back Ravindra Jadeja suffered a right forearm injury in Kanpur. After the scan, he was diagnosed with an inflammation in his forearm. They advised him to rest.
