Australian Open 2021: World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty is out of the championship against Karolina Muchova in the quarterfinals

On Monday Ashleigh Barty was the world number 1 out of the Australian Open against Karolina Muchova’s 25th seed. The loss ended Barty’s campaign to become the first Australian to win the tournament at home since Chris O’Neil did it in 1978.

The top-ranked player fell into three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 2-6, with Muchova arguing over the use of the doctors ’time limit in the match. After leaving the first set to their opponent, who fell 2-1 in the second set, the Czech Republic asked for a fission to come to court and examine the head and neck.

The doctor’s time limit took nine minutes when they examined him in the locker room, and when he returned, the player seemed to be completely different.

Muchova would win six of the next seven games to force a decisive third set and then continue to dominate in the third with its new form. Barty has had to make a total of 31 mistakes between the last two sets and has so far lost the first set of his tournament as a result of Muchova’s return to the locker room. Muchova will take on the winner between Jennifer Brady and Jessica Pegula.
