Australian rhythm legend Glenn McGrath tested positive for COVID-19 a few days before the Pink Test in memory of his wife Jane, who died of breast cancer, and is used as a fundraiser to help patients suffering from the dreaded disease.

Pink Test’s opponent in Australia will be England in the Ashes series.

The start of the year will be played at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) from 5 January.

The third day of the SCG Test is known as Jane McGrath Day and it remains to be seen when the former cricketer will attend a ceremony that will be negative.

McGrath, however, will be almost present when both sides are presented with their wide pink hats.

“Glenn has had a PCR test and it has unfortunately yielded a positive result,” McGrath Foundation CEO Holly Masters told the Australian media.

“We wish Glenni and her family good health.

“We thank our Cricket Australia and SCG partners. We also thank the English cricket team and announcers for their continued support of the Pink Test and we hope this will make Ashes the ‘pinkest’,” he added.

Australia have already maintained the Ashes by taking an unbeatable 3-0 advantage in a five-game series.
