The attacker shot Kalashnikov with an assault rifle and then fled the scene.
A Ukrainian National Guard soldier shot down security guards at a military plant in central Ukraine for unknown reasons, killing five people and wounding five others.
The incident took place early Thursday in Dnipron, a Pivdenmash missile factory, when weapons were handed over to guards, a statement said.
The attacker fired a shotgun at Kalashnikov and then fled the scene, the Interior Ministry said, adding that “five people were killed and five others were injured.”
Police are searching for an escaped soldier.
