The U.S. women’s national team will have fresh, younger faces as their 2021 program ends with two games against Australia later this month, according to a training list announced on Tuesday.

The 22-man team has 10 members and 12 players with 10 caps or less – including five players without caps – and has an average age of 26.3 years.

“We still have a few players who are injured, so this list is a mix of players with a lot of experience in the World Cups and Olympics, some who have been part of the program but want to leave their mark. “said USWNT coach Vlatko Andonovski.

Australia will host a U.S. women’s team in two friendly football matches

“We have turned the page to qualify for the 2023 World Cup, and we rarely have the opportunity to test young players in environments full of misfortune, so we need to take advantage of what these two games have to offer.”

Andonovsky called up two goalkeepers from the National Football League for Women Bella Bixby and Casey Murphy to join Jane Campbell, who won seven caps and scored a goalless draw against South Korea in Minnesota last month.

Defender Becky Sauerbrunn, a 36-year-old with 197 caps, is by far the most experienced player on the USWNT team, who has not played in Australia for 21 years.

The first match against Australia, which will host the 2023 Women’s World Cup with New Zealand, will be played on 27 November in Sydney and then on 30 November in Newcastle.
