Razer claims the back pedal on its N95-grade filter claims its Zephyr mask – Wired PR Lifestyle Story

Razer home gaming company has removed all claims of its Zephyr mask filter having a N95 rating after YouTube. Naomi ‘SexyCyborg’ Wu revealed that the claims were false.

On November 1, 2021, YouTube released a video of him throwing a mask, calling the company’s Zephyr mask, which he described as a “fraudulent product.”

Since these allegations surfaced, Razer has recalled marketing material claiming that the Zephyr mask filter is N95 level.

In addition to removing most of the videos about Zephyr masks from its YouTube page, Razer also added an additional disclaimer to its website, moving away from previous claims.

However, Naomi has called on Razer for this move on Twitter, saying their action is too late, as the media, individuals and health workers have denounced the mask as being on the N95 line.

What does Razer have to say?

When asked for comments, a Razer spokesman said the Zephyr mask filter had been tested for “95% particle filtration efficiency and 99% bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE).”

However, they stressed that “the laptop itself is not a medical device, nor is it certified as a N95 mask.”

“To avoid confusion, we are in the process of removing all references to our ‘N95 Grade Filter’ from our marketing material,” they added.

The company said it will contact existing customers directly to clarify this. Customers with more questions about the Razer Zephyr mask are asked contact their customer service.

Razer announced the launch of the Zephyr Pro masks on January 6, and pop-up opened a RazerStore at the Funan mall on January 11th.
