Food prices rose sharply in 2021, reaching a one-decade high, according to the United Nations.

As many countries pushed for the reopening of their economies last year, after months of blockades and tight limits, economists began to report a new crisis: rising food costs.

The UN Food Agency said prices had risen by 28 per cent during the year, reaching the same level top level Since 2011.

They eased a bit in December, but had been climbing for four months in a row before.

The rise is attributed to a number of factors, including supply chain barriers and rising raw material and energy costs.

What will it take to lower prices?
