The building included international media offices on the Gaza Strip, including that of Al Jazeera, when it completely demolished the structure hit by Israeli airstrikes.

It was not immediately clear whether they were dead in the attack. The live Al Jazeera video showed the 11-storey al Jalaa building, which also houses a residence and other offices, where dust and debris went into the air after the bombing that fell to the ground.

The building also housed the office of The Associated Press.

Al Jazeera’s Safwat Al Kahlout reported from Gaza that an occupant of the building had received a call from the Israeli army warning that an strike would come an hour earlier.

Al Kahlout, who was in the building at the time, said he and colleagues “began gathering as much as they could from staff and equipment, especially cameras.”

Al Kahlout said he saw at least three missiles attacking the building and then fell, saying he had worked in the building for 11 years, often making live reports from the roof.

“I’ve been covering a lot of events in this building,” he said. “We have a lot of good memories with colleagues.”

It was not immediately clear why Israel targeted the building, but many structures have been demolished, sometimes to warn them after a phone call or a “missile” blow as a result of Israeli attacks on the Palestinian expanse.

“Now, no one can understand the feeling of people who have destroyed their homes as a result of such airstrikes,” Al Kahlout said. “It’s really hard to wake up one day and then you realize that your office isn’t there with all the career experiences you’ve had, with all the memories you’ve had.”

In Gaza, at least 140 people have been killed, including 39 children and 22 women since the Israeli bombing began on Monday.

In Israel, seven people were killed, including a 5-year-old boy and a soldier, in a rocket attack by armed groups in Gaza.

Earlier on Saturday, an airstrike hit a three-story house in the Shati refugee camp in Gaza City, killing eight children and two women from a large family.
