AirAsia announced today that it has gained approval for the training of remote drone pilots. In one Press release, the company stated that it has obtained its Certificate of Approval (COA) from the Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority (CAAM).
Classroom training will be held at KA Sentral’s AirAsia Academy, and practical training will be conducted at the YMCA Kuala Lumpur Field, next to KL Sentral.
The aim of the training program is to support the Malaysian dronetech industry, as well as boost the drone delivery market.
Taking advantage of his aviation experience
AirAsia will join Drone Academy Asia being one of the few local remote pilot training organizations (RPTOs) that has received CAAM approval for accreditation.
Taking advantage of its aviation background, the program will be developed and supported by AirAsia’s aviation resources. This includes its safety management system, crew resource management and remote pilot training modules, both in class and in the field.
Drone delivery project update

This new accreditation is an update to the drone pilot project using automated drones to send goods from AirAsia’s e-commerce platforms.

Remote commercial pilot training classes will begin on January 24, 2022, where registration is open on the AirAsia Academy website.
