Pakistan captain Babar Azam, interim coach Saqlain Mushtaq and Mohammad Rizwan have recommended hiring foreign coaches for the national team, according to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja.

“In discussions with Babar, Rizwan and later Saqlain, everyone said that it was better to integrate foreign coaches into the national locker room,” Ramiz said.

Ramiz hired Matthew Hayden and Vernon Philander as Pakistan batting and bowling advisors at the T20 World Cup, respectively.

“Regular coaches are also needed”

Ramiz said his opinion, which he conveyed to the trio, that more local coaches should be with the team on their outdoor walks so that they can prepare themselves and gain experience and exposure.

He also reported that he did not deliberately appoint a full coaching staff support team for the final tour of Bangladesh and the West Indies home series, as he wanted to see the team standing with his thinking.

“I think a player gets greatness on a team when he has to work hard in a difficult situation to play without help,” Ramiz said.

The PCB has announced the post of five coaches, including a strong batting and high-performance center-back, including a vacant post after Grant Bradburn’s resignation from New Zealand.
