Australian Pat Cummins will contact Tim Pain on Wednesday ahead of the opening of Ashes before making his debut as a fastball captain against Gabban, England.
Paine resigned as captain in a sexting scandal last month in a 2019 draw that took Australia to England to store the ballot box for nearly 20 years.
Cummins said he had several conversations with Pain about leading the team since the wicketkeeper left the game during a mental health break, and would continue to do so.
“Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like Al that sounds crap to me, Looks like Al that sounds crap to me, Looks like Al that sounds crap to me.
“She is OK.
“I will probably give him another call this afternoon (in the evening) and I will continue to learn how to work with our players to get different ideas. He has a lot of experience.
“Great guy, I’m going to keep learning (from him).”

As Pain’s deputy captain, Cummins took control of the team earlier than expected and said his rise was yet to be completely sunk.
He said he was trying to pick out some of the winning characteristics of some of Australia’s final test captains.
“It’s almost crazy to be the captain of the 47th men’s test,” he added.
“Paine, Smithy, Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Steve Waugh’s lineage – these are the legends of the game I grew up watching.
“Steve Waugh was with us for the last time in Ashes. He was great, how simple he kept things.
“Michael Clarke gave me a height of 10 meters when I got out of the bowling alley, even though I didn’t feel very safe. Ricky Ponting is a great person.
“Again, he probably hasn’t hit me yet. It’s awesome.”
