Tamim Iqbal has just left his New Zealand tour with a sore thumb

Bangladeshi opener Tamim Iqbal will miss his next tour of New Zealand due to a thumb injury he suffered in Nepal’s Everest Premier League.

according to a report in cricbuzz.com, Tamimi was advised to rest for a month after consulting a doctor in England on Monday. “He (Tamim) met the doctor and advised him to rest for a month even though he will not need surgery,” said Debashish Chowdhury, chief physician of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

“In that case, he will miss the New Zealand tour.”

Bangladesh will play two tests in New Zealand as part of the new cycle of the Team World Test Championship.

The initial test will take place at Tauranga Bay Oval from January 1 to 5, followed by a second day in Christchurch on January 9.
