(Reuters) – Tesla Inc. has delayed production of the long-awaited Cybertruck, which is set to begin in 2023, CEO Elon Musk said on Wednesday as rivals are doubling their efforts to take advantage of the market.
The announcement confirms a Reuters report earlier this month that the electric vehicle manufacturer reported a quarterly increase in quarterly revenue and 2022 shipments, despite supply chain problems.
Musk, which introduced a futuristic vehicle in 2019, has already delayed its production from late 2021 to late 2022.
Tesla (NASDAQ 🙂 will prepare next year to launch Cybertruck, Semi and Roadster as well as its humanoid robot, he said.
“We’re not going to introduce any new vehicle models this year. It wouldn’t make sense because we’ll still have limited parts,” Musk said in a call to analysts.

Musk said he expects to produce a quarter of a million Cybertrucks a year, but it will take time to achieve this because many new technologies will be introduced.

“I’m more concerned about how we make Cybertruck affordable despite the excellent technology,” he said.
In early January, Reuters reported that Tesla had delayed production of its Cybertruck because it was changing features and functions in the face of increasing competition in the electric pickup market.
Tesla, the Premium Sedan, Model S, which introduced electric vehicles after the launch of the electric car Model 3, has yet to market it in the high-profit truck segment of fuel-efficient vehicles for U.S. automakers.
