When winter starts to turn your skin into a dry, dull shell, you might think that an extra moisturizer would do the trick. An extra dollop may feel good at the moment, but for me it’s a quick fix that doesn’t last long. After a few hours, that dry, itchy feeling comes back, and since I can’t stick my face in a moisturizer all day, I decided to find out what my moisturizer was missing. Granted, there is one key element that the best winter moisturizers for dry skin have in common: a cream base.
The lotions are beautiful, especially when it’s time to lighten things up for the warmer months, but the creams and balms will be much richer. Their formulations also have more winter skin care heroes soothing ceramics, such as hyaluronic acid, squalane or niacinamide, help maintain moisture and protect the skin.
