The West Indies Cricket Committee (CWI) will meet with its Pakistani counterpart on Thursday to discuss whether to cancel the ongoing tour after five other members of the tour, including three players, tested positive for COVID-19.
The CWI stated that a few hours before the start of the third Twenty20 International Karachin, the committee said it was holding a meeting “to decide whether the tour could continue.”
The West Indies will play three one-day international matches in Pakistan.
Wicketkeeper Shai Hope, spinner Akeal Hosein and nice Justin Greaves, along with assistant coach Roddy Estwick and doctor Akshai Mansingh, were positive after Wednesday’s tests.
“The three players will therefore lose the next matches and all five people will be isolated from the West Indies team …”, the CWI statement read.
“They will be isolated for 10 days or until the negative results of the PCR test return.”
Fastball player Sheldon Cottrell and all players Roston Chase and Kyle Mayers tested positive after arriving in Pakistan earlier.
The West Indies are also without a hitter, Devon Thomas, who injured his finger in the first T20 game.
