ZURICH (Reuters) – The World Economic Forum (WEF) has postponed its annual meeting in January at the Davos mountain resort in Switzerland until mid-2022, organizers said on Monday.
The event, a gathering of world business and political leaders, has been postponed due to ongoing uncertainty over Omicron’s appearance and said the meeting was scheduled for “early summer”.
“The current pandemic conditions make it very difficult to hold a global personal meeting. The preparations have been guided by expert advice and have benefited from the close cooperation of the Swiss government at all levels,” the Geneva WEF said on its website.
“Despite strict meeting health protocols, Omicron’s transmission and its impact on travel and mobility have made the delay necessary.”
