As far as I can remember, I always begged my aunt Ani for a dessert: a recipe for tres leches tarta. It’s amazing okina and cake decorator, but his tres leches are the best at hand. In addition to some of the additives I’ve made to the soaking liquid, this recipe is the same, and I’m excited to share it with you.

I was born in Venezuela and although many people believe that Tres Leches is from Mexico or Nicaragua, origins tres leches are a mystery in Latin America. So for our purposes and my pride, tres leches is Venezuelan, okay? OK!

This is my only advice with tres leches: it’s about soaking up the liquid and there’s more to it! The cake should be soaked in liquid, so if you’re wondering if it’s enough, make a little more and toss.

This cake is not for kids. My soaking liquid contains rum (ejem Venezuelan rum) and coffee! Feel free to replace the quantity of these with more milk, but if you stick to the recipe you will be happy. Guys, I swear I’m a very humble cook.
