Three other Pakistani women have given positive cricket players for COVID-19; PCB repair before WI home series

Three other positive female cricketers from Pakistan were given a chance to climb the COVID-19 for a total of six, as the country’s cricket board is in limbo to form a suitable team ahead of the home series against the West Indies.

Earlier, three other players were also positive at Covid and are already in their forties from the rest of the camps in the camp set up in Karachi.

A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said 12 of the 18 players currently announced for the series are training at the National Stadium, where the first ODI will take place on 8 November.

The West Indies women’s team, led by Stephanie Taylor, has already arrived in Karachi and is being held in solitary confinement for three days at the group hotel and will start training from Friday.

The official said they were conducting PCB PCR tests every day at the Pakistani women’s camp, so six positive cases came as a surprise.

“Bubble is implementing and complying with all possible biosecurity regulations, but in the current situation cricket has learned to live with Covid-19,” he said.

Pakistan and Antilles will play three ODIs in Karachin and these matches will give both teams a chance to get the competitive match they want before the ICC World Cup Qualifiers.

Nida Dar said that he is very interested in playing international cricket during the pandemic during the pandemic.

“We are doing great training ahead of the three ODIs against the West Indies. The pitches here are great for cricket and the weather is also great for the game. This series is very important for us to prepare for the World Cup Qualifiers.”

Interestingly, the West Indies women only played once at the Karachi National Stadium in 2006.

Nida will also play her first international match at NSK.

While the West Indies toured Pakistan with three T20Is, they played at the Southend Club in Karachi, the last time these two teams met at the National Stadium was in 2006. That’s the only case the two sides have faced in this stadium.

“It’s a great feeling. The last time the Antilles toured Pakistan we played in another venue in Karachi.”
