India is a “powerhouse” in its backyard, and the Black Caps will have to adapt quickly to India’s touring conditions to win the upcoming Test series, says New Zealand coach Tim Southee.
The Two Test series will be the first meeting between the two teams in the test cricket since the World Test final in June. New Zealand suffered a 3-0 defeat against India in their last tour of India in 2016.

Southe said the tours have changed dramatically for cricket teams as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Not only has life on tour changed, life in general has changed for many people and we cricketers also had to adapt to that. Often in bubbles, a lot of time in quarantine, so the way we travel has changed. One of the positive things is that we have spent a lot of time as a team. ”
“One of the biggest challenges”
Southee’s young rhythm colleague, Kyle Jamieson, said playing in India is “one of the biggest challenges” for any country playing in the Indian test. “We have one of the biggest challenges, playing India in India. So for me that lifts me out of bed every day and challenges you against the best in the world in tough conditions.
“It’s a different challenge in India, that’s what you want to do in international cricket, you want to challenge yourself in different conditions and formats,” he said.
Jamieson also believes that the life of an athlete has changed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. “It’s definitely been a challenge for the last six to eight months. Being away from home in different series, different countries and bubbles in life, so it’s not easy. You try to differentiate as much as you can. It’s a massive learning process. ”
The first test of the next round will be played in Kanpur from November 25 to 29 and then in Mumbai from December 3 to 7. Before the test matches in Jaipur (November 17), there will be three T20I that will be played in Ranchin. (November 19) and Kolkata (November 21).
