Top 9 office chairs (2021): budget, luxury, cushions and more

It may take you a week or two (maybe even a month) to get used to the Herman Miller Embody, but it’s worth it. His erect position held my back and relieved the back pain of sitting in a cheap gaming chair. The seat feels stiff at first, but eventually surprisingly turns into a pillow, and the armrests remain firm. It does a great job of removing heat from my body, but it doesn’t as as well as network backs and seats. It’s one of the most adjustable chairs in the area: you can pull out the seat, change the height and angle of the armrests, and adjust. Backfit adjustment to follow the natural curve of your spine.

Did I mention it’s nice? I would say it’s one of the most striking chairs in the area, especially with the ribbed design at the back. Not to mention that it has a surprisingly small footprint. I know, I know, it’s incredibly expensive. But the amazing thing is that when I’ve spent almost two years in this chair, it feels as good as new, with almost no creaking. Best of all, Herman Miller offers a 12-year warranty that covers all parts of the chair and comes fully assembled.

★ Another luxury chair: Steelcaserena Gesture ($ 1,159) it’s comfortable no matter how you’re sitting. Place one leg under the other, cross your legs from the knee or place one on the armrest, and you will be fairly well supported. The adaptations are also nice: you have a wide range of movements to work with, the whole package is tailored to your body and posture. Unfortunately, the upholstered fabric doesn’t hold up as well as Embody does, and it’s not as breathable as other cheaper chairs.
