WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. consumer confidence improved further in December, suggesting that the economy will continue to expand in 2022 despite a resurgence of COVID-19 infections and a reduction in fiscal stimulus.
The Conference Board said on Wednesday that its consumer confidence index had risen to a reading of 115.8 this month, up from 111.9 in a revised rise in November. Economists surveyed by Reuters predicted that the index would rise to 110.8 since it previously announced 109.5 in November.
