The Interior Ministry said dozens of people, including women and children, had been injured in the bombing in the southern province of Zabul.

At least 11 people have been killed and dozens injured on a roadside bomb after a bus struck a southern Afghan province of Zabul, the Interior Ministry said.

The blast took place on Sunday night, according to Zabul provincial governor’s spokesman Gul Islam Sialen.

He added that 25 people were injured, including women and children in critical condition.

Violence in the country has been rising sharply in recent weeks after the United States announced by September 11 that it would withdraw troops from the country.

The Taliban announced late Sunday that Eid al-Fitr will declare a three-day ceasefire for the holiday this week.
