NEW YORK (Reuters) – US prosecutors said Friday that Igor Fruman, a former colleague of Donald Trump’s former lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who had helped to gather harmful information about Joe Biden, had been sentenced to between 37 and 46 months in prison. the case of funding an unrelated campaign.
In a Manhattan federal court case, prosecutors say it is enough to punish the verdict in Fruman for his “prominence” in claiming $ 1 million in foreign contributions “with the express purpose of influencing that money in the U.S. election.”
The proposed sentence mirrors recommend federal criminal guidelines. U.S. District Judge Paul Oetken will impose a sentence on Fruman on Jan. 21.
Todd Blanche Fruman’s lawyer declined to comment.
Last Friday, he advised his client not to receive jail time, citing, among other reasons, Fruman being confined to his home for more than two years and accepting responsibility.
Oetken also led an October trial in which defendant Lev Parnas, another former member of Giuliani, was found guilty https://www.reuters.com/world/us/ex-giuliani-associate-parnas-found-guilty- violating- us-campaign-finance-law-2021-10-22 campaign law violations.
Another defendant, Andrey Kukushkin, was also found guilty at the trial.
Parnas, who was born in Belarus and Ukraine in Belarus, was initially accused in October 2019 of hiding an illegal $ 325,000 donation to help run for President Trump’s 2020 election campaign.
Fruman’s claim is linked to a separate effort to obtain legal and recreational permits for the distribution of marijuana.
In his speech https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/igor-fruman-ex-associate-giuliani-says-he-will-plead-guilty-2021-09-10, Fruman said he planned to make donations he wanted Democratic and Republican officials in U.S. states, and he sent a list of those officials to foreign nationals.
He said he has “little experience” with the rules governing political donations, but “generally understands” that foreigners should not make such donations in the United States.
Before filing the allegations, Giuliani named Fruman and Parnassus Biden, then a presidential candidate and now the president of the United States, and his son Hunter to help unravel the filth.
Giuliani has not been charged and has been denied.
